Escape the city and dive into the wild with our 3-day Mikumi Safari from Dar es Salaam! Perfect for busy travelers and city dwellers, it’s the fastest route to unforgettable wildlife adventures.
This 3-day safari takes you to Mikumi National Park, a scenic and wildlife-rich destination located about 280 km west of Dar es Salaam along the Tanzam Highway (T1), the main route connecting Tanzania with Zambia. The highway cuts through the park, often giving travelers the rare chance to spot animals like elephants, giraffes, antelopes, and even lions from the road. Nestled between the Uluguru and Lumango Mountains, Mikumi offers not just incredible wildlife but also breathtaking landscapes. It’s also close to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, just an hour’s drive away, making it a gateway to explore Tanzania’s Southern Circuit. This itinerary is available starting from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar (with a domestic flight to Dar included), making it a perfect short safari whether you're visiting Tanzania for business or leisure.
Your safari kicks off with a pick-up from your hotel or Dar es Salaam International Airport by your TMT safari representative, followed by a short safari briefing. The drive to Mikumi National Park takes about 5 to 6 hours, offering scenic views of the Uluguru and Udzungwa Mountains, with Selous Game Reserve nearby. Upon arrival in the afternoon, you’ll jump straight into your first game drive, exploring Mikumi’s vast plains. Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, antelopes, and more as the adventure begins.
